Housing Support Worker (Part Time) - Witham, Essex

    • An opportunity has arisen to work at our young people’s supported housing scheme in Witham as a Part Time Housing Support Worker.

      The scheme provides support & accommodation to young people aged 16-21 years. The scheme operates 24 hours, 7 days a week, across 365 days per year (incl. weekends & bank holidays).

      The staff team work within a rolling rota which includes 1-2 sleep in duties on average per week. We are looking for someone who has a flexible approach to work with great communication skills. You will also have a good understanding of the issues facing vulnerable young people; experience of working alongside individuals with medium-high support needs who present challenging & risky behaviours. A good knowledge of the benefits system and entitlements available to young people.

      You will be key working individuals, empowering them to build upon and develop their independent living skills, supporting them to move forward into independent living.  Peabody South East is committed to providing excellent service to both its Tenants and staff.

    Complex Needs Assertive Outreach/Hostel Worker, Southend-on Sea

    • The role is dedicated to the continued delivery of support to customers using Drugs & Alcohol and other complex adults in Southend, who have been traditionally hard to engage in services designed to reduce the negative impacts of their substance use. This role will also look at accommodation options for customers who sleep rough in order to reduce the numbers on the streets as part of the Rough Sleeper Initiative.

      The role will be delivered on a rota basis, predominantly out of hours (early and late), this includes weekend working.

      You will hold a caseload of up to 8 complex individuals at any one time with a view to supporting them to engage in dedicated drug and alcohol treatment services/mental health and allied support as necessary. 

      Please note this is a Secondment/ Fixed Term opportunity until 31 March 2020.

      ‘STEPS to Stay Independent’ provides a home visiting support service for people aged 60+. We work with their housing related support needs, which are not to be confused with their care needs.

      You will need to be friendly, hardworking, self-motivated, organised and creative in how you support people with different needs and different backgrounds. You will support people with a variety of issues, with the focus on housing. They may also need help with claiming benefits, linking in with local groups or activities in the area and any other issues that may prevent someone from living independently.
